Peer Pressure

 Peer Pressure

Peer Pressure is the direct influence on people by peers, or the effect on an individual who is encouraged and wants to follow their peers by changing their attitudes, values or behaviours to conform to those of the influence group or individual. It's like we get an urge to do whatever the people around us are doing whether it is right or wrong. If your peers are amazing people then peer pressure would be an amazing thing for you but if you are surrounded with lazy people and people with no passion to move ahead in their lives, then trust me you are with the wrong people.

The people who surround you are the ones who define you, that's why having a good friend circle is an important thing and if you are surrounded by good people that's surely going to help you with your future. It's a common saying that all living organisms adapt to their surroundings, that's what we do. We adapt the mindset and habits of the people around us and then we start to become like them. That's why peer pressure cannot be termed as bad always because it can also help you to adapt good habits and therefore will make a positive impact on your life.

Peer pressure plays a huge role in social and emotional development of a person. Here are some tips regarding peer pressure-:

1) Stay away from peers who pressure you to do wrong or dangerous things

2) Learn to say no

3) Learn to avoid situations in which you feel unsafe or uncomfortable

4) If you have problems with your peers talk to some trustworthy adult like a parent, teacher

5) Always be honest with everything

Negatives of peer pressure can be quite harsh. Don't ever try to copy someone else. Its ok to be different, all of us are different in our own ways. Try to become successful in your own way rather than copying someone else. It might be a bit tougher than just copying someone else but trust me, if you do things in your own way, it will be worth it. Just never give up and everything will be alright.
